Syllabus Analysis
The 8th Level Medical Officer examination is conducted in two phases. Phase One consists of two written papers: an objective paper (Paper I) containing 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and a subjective paper (Paper II) with 10 descriptive questions. A 20% mark deduction applies to incorrect answers in the objective paper. The syllabus is comprehensive and divided into four main sections (A through D), covering core medical disciplines, surgical specialties, maternal and child health, community medicine, forensic medicine, and relevant health-related acts. Phase Two includes a leaderless group discussion and an individual interview to assess professional conduct, communication skills, and overall suitability.

Phase 1: Written Examination (200 Marks)
- First Paper: General Health Services (Objective) – 100 Marks. 100 MCQs, 1 hour 15 minutes.
- Second Paper: General Health Services (Subjective) – 100 Marks. 10 Questions, 3 hours.

- Section B (30 Marks): General Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Dental.
- Section C (20 Marks): Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Childhood Diseases.
- Section D (20 Marks): Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, and Health-related Acts.
Phase 2: Interview (40 Marks)
- Group Discussion – 10 Marks.
- Individual Interview – 30 Marks.
